Helping dogs live with humans.
I believe that the most important aspect of dog training is the relationship between the dog and person(s). Without mutual trust and respect, no training will make a lasting impact. I teach owners how to do this through playing, using food, and establishing clear communication. Boundaries and structure are important roles in the relationship as well.
Many of my clients are dogs who struggle with behavior issues. Behavior issues can range from fear-based reactivity to anxiety or aggression. I am happy to help you with your dog, but please be aware that these behavior issues require time and commitment. If you are dedicated, I will help you!
I am CPDT-KA certified as well as a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. I have been certified with Pack Pros in Group Management & Dog Body Language, as well as Pet CPR/First Aid.
Sarah Powell is the sole trainer behind The Capable K9. She grew up with animals, including dogs, horses, and even rats! All her life, she has been training animals and learning how to best care for them. Sarah began training professionally in 2016 after volunteering at local shelters for years.
Sarah believes that proper training should be personalized for each individual dog and their family. Not only does she address behavior issues, she also focuses on the dog's diet, exercise, and the relationship with the owner. Her goal is to teach people how to communicate with and appreciate their dog for who they are. At the same time, she teaches the owner(s) how to better lead their dog and stop unwanted behavior.
Please send an email to book your training appointment. Include details about your dog's current training needs, your availability, & a preferred training program, if you have one. All training begins with a 1-hour long initial evaluation.
